Actively control Peppers listening state

Hi everyone, 

is there a way to actively control the robots listening state? 

Here ae some things, I'd be intrested in doing: 

* Extend the listening state so that minimal pauses in speech are not interpreted as end of speech input. 

*Deactivate the listening state selectively, for a set period of time

Any ideas re. possible approaches are appreciated! :)
